Keijometo
About This Spot
Stepping into Keijometo in Johor Bahru feels like discovering a quiet pocket of Japan tucked within the vibrant rhythm of Taman Melodies. The space balances an industrial edge with subtle natural touches—a garden visible through the window softens the sleek concrete and metal, inviting a slower, more thoughtful pace. It’s a place where the buzz of city life fades, replaced by a calm atmosphere perfect for lingering conversations or a peaceful moment alone with a warm drink.
The mood here leans toward casual yet purposeful, a spot where design and comfort meet without overstating either. Seating arrangements may be close, but the overall vibe encourages engagement, whether you’re catching up with friends or simply watching the world outside. Lighting is carefully curated—not too bright, with a gentle warmth that complements the earthy palette of the décor.
Keijometo’s menu mirrors this balance, offering Japanese café classics with a few unexpected twists that invite quiet exploration. There’s an art to savoring their bowls and sandwiches, where familiar ingredients are elevated by subtle touches—the earthy aroma of truffle mingling with creamy udon or the inviting warmth of a matcha-based drink that cleanses as much as it refreshes. Meals here unfold like small rituals, each bite accompanied by the mindful pouring of dashi broth or the playful assembly of a perfectly layered sandwich. The flavors aren’t loud or hurried, but they resonate in the kind of way that rewards a slower, intentional dining experience.
What stands out beyond the food is the welcoming pulse beneath the polished industrial interior. There’s a relaxed rhythm to the space that encourages visitors to settle without feeling rushed, even when the place is busy. It’s clear from the hum of conversations and the steady flow of orders that Keijometo has found a comfortable groove — casual yet thoughtful, a local gem where atmosphere and experience are attentively crafted to feel both fresh and familiar.

Visited Keijometo several times, and the food has always been absolutely delicious! My all time favourite is the Truffle Carbonara Udon, and the highlight of this visit would be the Osmanthus Matcha Latte. It tasted so refreshing and fragrant. Love the atmosphere of this cafe! A really chill hang out spot to catch up with friends over nice food and drinks. The waiting time seemed to be shorter now. Visited around noon on a Saturday and was seated within 10 mins.

Came here on a weekday (Wed) afternoon at around 4pm and the place was full!! But we didn't have to wait for seats thankfully. Ordered 2 matcha drinks: Lychee Matcha (RM15) Strawberry Matcha (RM17) And 2 dishes: Cold Inaniwa Udon (RM25) Mentaiko Tamago Sandwich (RM20) The matcha drinks were ok only cause the fruit overpowered the matcha and we can hardly taste the matcha flavour at all. The food was very good!! Love the mentaiko sandwich! A little salty but the eggs were fried to crisp and they were very generous with the mentaiko sauce!!! The cold noodles were very refreshing as well and the udon was slightly thinner and very chewy. Love the texture. Will probably be back more for the food and not the drinks.

This restaurant stands out as one of the most visually appealing places we've visited in Johor Bahru so far. The overall vibe and decor, both inside and outside, create a pleasant atmosphere that invites you to relax and enjoy your meal. The decor has a cool Japanese urban style, adding to the unique experience and making it a great spot for those who appreciate aesthetic dining environments. The key highlight here is matcha, making it an ideal spot for matcha enthusiasts. The strawberry matcha latte is particularly noteworthy, offering a delightful balance of flavors. It combines the sweetness of strawberries with a hint of sourness, perfectly complementing the rich taste of matcha. This refreshing drink is sure to please many palates. In addition to the beverages, the food menu features a variety of dishes that are generally well-prepared and flavorful. Each item we tried met our expectations and complemented the matcha theme. Overall, this restaurant is worth a visit, especially for those who appreciate matcha. It provides a nice combination of good food, a pleasant dining environment, and a distinctive Japanese urban aesthetic.

This is a busy restaurant that sports industrial decor design, with quite a few interesting decorations and lighting. Seating is tight and rather uncomfortable. Well, I don't think comfort for customer was in their mind as they limit dining to 1 hour only. Service is fast, courteous and friendly. Food wise is just average with the chicken katsu sando over fried and the batter too hard. Their burnt cheese cake was too rich for my liking as one would find it a bit much to consume by oneself. However, their matcha latte is the best I have had in Malaysia. Only Japan is where I tasted better.

This Japanese cafe/restaurant has a nice garden and a rugged industrial interior. Put together, it was quite a visual treat. Ordered a Salmon Ochazuke and Gyudon. An Ochazuke is always fun to partake. A quiet joy when pouring dashi stock onto the rice dish. Their Gyudon beef was very flavourful, topped with colourful flying fish roe. Added a dash of wasabi, and every mouthful became a bliss. Dessert was houjicha cheese cake paired with matcha cream, and a dirty strawberry matcha drink. The cheesecake combo with houjicha and matcha was interesting, and didnt dissapoint. The strawberry matcha though, was a bit plain. Perhaps should have ordered their speciality matcha. Overall, quite a good lunch experience. Would be better if they improve the air-conditioning a little. The air was getting warm. @keijometo #foodphotography #foodhunter #foodie #foodreview #foodblog #foodblogger #foodreview #foodiegram #foodies #coffee #johorbahru #jbfood #japanese food #keijometo #cafe #jbcafe #keijometo

Waited about 15 min to get in on a Friday at 2pm. Scan the QR code at the door, enter your details and a queue number will be generated. Service was fast. The place was clean and comfortable and the food was truly amazing! The cheesecake was really rich and the combination with matcha cream was heavenly. Although the portion looked like a usual cheesecake, it was really solid and would be good for 3 pax after a main course each.

Really cool spot with minimalist Japanese vibes. The place looks great for photos, but the atmosphere is also calm and relaxing. I tried the matcha latte and the tamago sando — both were good, though portions are a bit small for the price. It can get pretty crowded on weekends, so it’s better to come early if you want a seat. Staff were polite and service was quick. Nice place to chill for a bit or take some aesthetic photos if you’re into that.
